REPUBLIC OF II BY IV is thrilled to unveil the Picos Collection, in collaboration with Ames, at the world-renowned furniture fair Salone del Mobile in Milan, Italy in April 2024. This collection cements the official collaboration between Ames and its first Canadian design studio, seamlessly blending ancestral Colombian techniques with contemporary design aesthetics.

Drawing inspiration from Colombia's breathtaking landscape, the Picos Collection comprises a coffee table and side table, meticulously handcrafted to embody the essence of Colombian artistry and tradition. The pieces can be used individually or nested together, providing both functionality and visual appeal.

Featuring a conical clay base that pays homage to Colombia's majestic "Cerros de Mavecure" mountains, Picos is a celebration of the rich cultural heritage of two distinct regions in Colombia. The handwoven tabletop is made from a natural fique fibre obtained from a type of agave, processed by skilled craftspeople from the Boyaca region. The bases are made from black clay that was built up in layers and set to dry for up to 5 days in the Tolima region.

Inspired by a shared commitment to creativity and sustainability in design, the Picos Collection will be on display at Salone del Mobile from April 16-21, 2024 at Hall 24, Stand F01.
